I started, and sometimes that’s the best you can do. One foot in front of the other and keep walking. So here is 1, 2 and 3 of 30. Goal is to have 30 minis (these are 4×4) complete by November 1.
It’s been a busy, busy fall and it’s only begun!
Lately I’ve been having a ton of fun in my newest art course with Alena Hennessy and Susan Tuttle called Co-Lab (http://www.colabartistry.com/). So far I’ve been playing with making iphone photo images like these:
I’m excited about adding pen, paint and inks next! It has so inspired me that I’m starting a challenge for myself = 30 photos in 30 days. They will be small and a fun way for me to keep myself inspired and to create as much as possible. I will post them here as I work.
As we move into our new house, I’m finding all sorts of ways to incorporate my art and creativity into our house. Believe me, I have big plans of artsy curtains, maybe wall paper?, pillow cases, etc!!! I started here with these coasters which were SUPER fun! Although my son likes to stack them and push them onto the floor, so I’m not sure how effective they have been so far as actual coasters 🙂
I’ve also been fiddling with designing my own fabrics, wallpapers and gift wraps using my own art! I ordered my own organic cotton yardage and gift wrap which will be arriving in the mail SOON! I’ll let you know all about it after they arrive :). For now, it’s a secret 😉
Two events are coming up which I’ve been preparing for:
The first is the RAW: natural born artist showcase in Minneapolis at The Pourhouse on October 22. I’m working on a brand new series for this show and I can’t wait for you all to see it!!! If you would like to come check out the RAW showcase, you can purchase your ticket here: http://rawartists.org/laracornell. Advance tickets are $15 and I’ll gladly give you $15 off your purchase of $15 or more at the show, or in my etsy shop (even if you can’t make it!). Otherwise, tickets are $20 at the door. It should be SUPER FUN, and it’s always great to support other local artists of all kinds. There’s going to be fire spinners there PEOPLE! How cool is that?!
The second is a 3 hour Yoga and Art retreat hosted by myself and my friend Lorelei in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on October 19th. This is the first event we have hosted and we are both VERY excited! There may be moments of “wait, what are we doing?”, but I know we’ll be able to laugh through it and have a great time. The retreat is for ALL levels (no experience necessary) and it’s $25. Snacks supplied, and you get to take home your intuitive painting. All you have to bring is your yoga mat.
Phew! I’d like to say that’s all I’m up to, but it’s not ;). More soon!
